Part I: Heaven

In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you.  John 14:2

Heaven is defined as a place known as paradise, a place where God lives and full of joy and happiness. It is where all Christians expect to go after death. Heaven can be referred to figuratively or literately. It could be referred to as the beautiful home that you live so comfortably in peace that you call your heaven on earth. It is also a real place where God and angels live. It is the place that we all prepare ourselves to go after death. The bible tells us so many good things about heaven until some Christians become so heavenly minded and earthly useless. The greatest benefit of a genuine Christian is for us to enjoy both worlds. The bible says that whatsoever that is bind on earth will also be bound in heaven, and whatsoever that is loose on earth will also be loosed in heaven. While we are living here on earth, we need to practice the good life that awaits us after death. If not, you would be lost and confuse when you get there.

Christianity is about balance. Some Christians are living in bondage, because they believe that the whole idea about Christianity is only about going to heaven. This is wrong. After salvation God wants us to live on this earth, promoting His kingdom and making an impact. When you die at the appropriate time, then we will continue to enjoy the benefits and better life in heaven. Some other religion believes that there are other criteria to go to heaven. But we Christians believe that the only criteria are to confess your sins and accept Christ as your Lord and savior. If you continue to play games and reject Christ, there is another place call hell. This place is full of distress, unhappiness, severe heat that makes you feel miserable all the time. This is not a good place to be.

The above scripture gives a brief description of heaven; it says that there are mansions in heaven. I believe it with all my heart because this is what the bible says. I look forward to seeing you therein heaven some days in the future. You might be surprised, to see who made it there and who did not. All that glitters are not gold.

Part II: Denomination

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Psalm 133:1.

Within the Christian settings, a denomination is defined as an organization whose congregations are united in their adherence to its beliefs and practices. Some Christians are more committed to their denominations then they are to Christ. People are quick to admit their denominations more than admitting that they are Christians. They fail to realize that we are a first born-again Christians, before we became a member of a denomination. The idea of denomination is good because you find people with the same belief worshiping God together. On the other hand, some denominations have harmed the Christianity a great deal, because denomination is Man’s idea. There is one God and those of us who seek Him through Christ are considered Christians.

Our Lord Jesus Christ does not belong to any denomination. The bible says that He was a Jew, so if we must follow a doctrine then it should be Judaism. Christianity came into existence because of Judaism. Some people may not agree with me on this, because of personal bias, but this is a reality and we can’t change what the bible says. The only problem with Judaism is that they are still waiting for the Messiah to come. Where as we know that the Messiah came and died on the cross for our sins as we await His return.

Because denominations are formed by men, most of these men try to include their personal beliefs and traditions into the teachings in the church. On many occasion they say things that are not biblical. Some of them take one scripture from the bible and build their entire church on it, with millions of people conforming to it. Few examples of this includes scripture in the New Testament where Paul said that it is good for an unmarried person to remain single to dedicate his or her services to the work of God. But Paul also said that he wishes that everyone would have their own husbands and wives. There are few people in the bible refer to as eunuchs. These are people with no feeling or desire for sex and Paul himself is one of those. Therefore, Paul said that I wish everyone was like me. Unfortunately, one denomination over the years committed itself to recruiting normal people, encouraging them to remain single, to serve as leaders in the church. This has promoted homosexuals and lesbianism all over the world today. Even though this denomination has made tremendous progress in advancing the gospel.

Another example taken from the Old Testament is when God told Moses to take-off his sandals before approaching the burning bush. One denomination has taken this out of context and the entire denomination stay bear footed all year without wearing shoes. There is another very popular organization that forbids taking a casket into the church, because in the Old Testament God commanded the high priest to avoid going around a dead person. If he hung around any corpse, he will be considered unclean for 7 days, and should not enter the temple within that time. But in the New Testament Jesus raised a man back to life that was dead for few days. This organization in question, has literally become insensitive to bereaved families within the church because of this one scripture from the Old Testament.

Please note that I am not against denominations. I am simply saying that we need to read and understand the bible for ourselves, because it is possible to be misled by teachings and beliefs of some denominations. The bible says that we must show ourselves approve. Your relationship and connection with God is more important than your denomination. Jesus did not come on earth to save one denomination; he died for all of us. God is concern about unity according to the above scripture. The concept of denomination will continue to divide us. It is God’s desire for all of us to work together as one body. AMEN.

The Diplomatic Bible Study: ”Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.  Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love” 1 John 4:7-8
